There are few venues that have been operating since 1905...
Claremont Showground is managed and operated by The Royal Agricultural Society of WA.
The showground has been managed by The Royal Agricultural Society of WA (RAS) since 1905, when the WA government granted the RAS a site of 34 acres in Claremont, in return for the land which the society held in Guildford.
The original area granted to the Society was 34 acres (13.7 hectares) and this was later increased to 75 acres (30.3 hectares).
This land is home to The RAS flagship event - The IGA Perth Royal Show which takes place every year. This event was first held in Guildford during 1834 before moving to Claremont.
Claremont Showground has since developed and has been home to a number of large and small events, including the longest running event of its kind, the speedway which was held at Claremont Showground for 72 years straight. The people of Perth came every Friday night for the thrills and spills of the Claremont Speedway.
In recent years, the Showground has been host to some of Perth's biggest events including the Big Day Out, Soundwave, Stereosonic, Supanova and the much loved Perth Caravan and Camping Show.
The RAS work hard to ensure the Claremont Showground remains a prestige venue to hold a wide range of events which are aimed to entertain and engage the WA community.
In 2015 Claremont Showground will again host a number of events which attract over one million people throughout the year.
